SECRET LIVES: HIDDEN CHILDREN AND THEIR RESCUERS
USA, 2002, English, 90 min., Director: Aviva Slesin

During the Second World War, some tens of thousands of Jewish children were saved from almost certain death by an equally small number of non-Jewish neighbors, friends, or even - in many cases - total strangers. These rescuers, men and women of uncommon decency, did everything from bringing Jewish children into their families under false identities to securing hiding places in closets, attics, or hastily-dug bunkers.

Now, Academy Award-winning director Aviva Slesin (herself a hidden child) tells what happened between these children, their parents, and their rescuers.

School presentation for middle-school students and their teachers. Registration required.
Thursday, Jan. 17, 8:30 a.m. & 11:30 a.m., BREC Theatre, Independence Park
Speaker: Anne Levy, Holocaust survivor
