The Lady In Number 6 is one of the most inspirational and uplifting stories of the year. 109 year old, Alice Herz Sommer, the world’s oldest pianist and Holocaust survivor, shares her story on how to achieve a long and happy life. She discussed the importance of music, laughter and how to have an optimistic outlook on life. This film won the Oscar for best documentary short subject at the 2014 Oscars.

The name may not be instantly familiar, but at the height of his popularity, David Steinberg was one of the world’s best known stand-up comics, and he later directed some of the most successful situation comedies of the last 20 years. Plentiful clips of Steinberg’s priceless performances and TV directing credits (Seinfeld, Mad About You, Golden Girls, and Curb Your Enthusiasm) are paired with backstage stories from Jerry Seinfeld, Larry David, Norm Macdonald, Jeff Garlin and others who illuminate David Steinberg’s place as a comedian of note in the American comedy pantheon.

Under the Same Sun follows the lives of two businessmen—one Palestinian and one Israeli—as they struggle to forge a business relationship leading to surprising results. The 2014 BRJFF is now in the history books. It was three wonderful nights one great afternoon, five incomparable films, a terrific speaker and nearly 700 eager movie fans. We owe it all to you — our generous donors, the terrific staff at the Manship Theatre and of course our loyal fans. You made this year’s festival a record-breaking success.
